so i just changed my oil and i ran it at idle for about 4 mins. i checked the oil level, and it was 1/2 inch over the Upper reading. should i drain a little out or do you think it will be ok?

1/2 inch over the upper reading is a lot. Go ahead and drain some out and recheck the oil level. It's a huge pain to drain just a little bit of oil out of the tank without making a mess so try to find a small siphon or something to suck the oil out of the filler on the tank.

i think i figured it out, i was screwing it in all the way. i guess your not supposed to do that. now its just a little bit over upper. probly cuz i put 2 quarts in instead of 1.95

I always just put 2 qts in, that little itty bit of oil really wont matter that much in the grande scheme of things.

I know that you already figured it out but maybe this thread will help someone else. This is from the Honda Service Manual

- Check the oil level after starting the engine and
allowing the oil to circulate through the engine
thoroughly. It is especially important on dry sump
engine, due to the comparatively large volume of
- oil. Do not snap the throttle while idling or the oil level
reading will be inaccurate.
Place the vehicle on level ground.
Start the engine and let it idle for a 5 minutes. If the
air temperature is below 10°C (50"FL let the engine
idle for an additional 5 minutes (a total of 10 minutes).
Stop the engine.
After a few minutes, remove the oil filler capldipstick
from the oil tank and wipe it clean.
Check the oil level by inserting the oil filler/dipstick
into the oil filler hole without screwing it in.
The engine contains a sufficient amount of oil if the
oil level is between the upper and lower level marks
on the dipstick.
If the oil level is near or below the lower level mark,
and the recommended engine oil up to the upper
level mark.
RECOMMENDED ENGINE OIL
Honda GN4 or HP4 4-stroke oil or equivalent
motor oil
API service classification SF or SG
