Clutching and Gearing are the most important on the 50's imho. We have a 50 here with a Ported OEM jug that has not been beat by anything but a Cobra all last year, same cylinder Won the 50 Limited Championship @ the TT Nationals in 08 and and placed 2nd in 09 to a Cobra 50 in the 50 Production class .

Don't have to spend a bunch of Money, just need someone with experience in the 50's to tell you the right combination.

Only my opinion

There are a couple popular cylinders out there (Polini, Stage 6, Malossi, Parmakit) and with the abundance of pipes out now it should make the first gate drop very interesting.

The CVT tuning will really make or break you as the other post said.

which cylinder do u think is the best

The cylinder is just one of the factors in this puzzle.

We have a Stage 6 kit that does very well against some of the other brands, but I think the Polini kit maybe the most popular right now.

The Parmakit has the numbers to be a good choice as well...

I would put my focus on the right pipe more than the stressing ove the cylinder.

Gary set the boy up with a stage 6 kit. He has a nice "tested" package from cylinder to cvt. It won't break the bank either. Matt.

Maxxis 940 I believe. It's too cold in the garage
to go look at ours, we run them on or 70 & 90.

They look a little diff on the red rocket because
they are on wider rims. Nice ride btw JJ

mike did Dale have the fox shocks last year?? I thought he had elka

jerkyboy
02-11-2010, 06:06 PM
His limited last year had elkas and did his 70.
This quad is almost the same as last year. I put the limited plastics on it and a mallosi cylinder.

Miike , does Dale like the Fox as well as the Elkas ?

jerkyboy
02-11-2010, 06:26 PM
Hey Mark He likes the fox setup over the Elkas that are on his 70.
But the rear shock on the 70 I bought used and it was'nt setup rite. I had it rebuilt and it seems much better. But he hasnt had it on the track to really air it out. Don't worrie I didnt forget about you.

good looking quad too jerkyboy! i like the carbon skid pads on the rear fenders. we always scratch our plastic up real bad right there.

jerkyboy
02-12-2010, 07:02 AM
I had to do something to protect that area. These plastics were
red I had Steve (Wotring Racing) paint them last year for me.
They came out awsome and are holding up real well. He did JJ's
quad its the red 918 quad in this thread.

edwardsp&b

from what ive heard steve is a jack of all trades. i run a paint and body shop and know what it takes to make paint stick to that plastic and hold up. not easy, good job!

They appear to be the Maxxis940 tires which we run our Mod 70/90s

Interesting choice for a 50 though, but Wotring never goes slow, so I would give that choice the benefit of the doubt considering who built the quad.

02-12-2010, 08:27 AM
Thanks for answering my question about the tires.

Wotring has been running the big tires for years.Everyone is jumping on big tire bandwagon because of Wotring.Caution!! Steve is the master of clutching and if you are not on the money with your clutch, large tires will hinder your performance. We ran big tires all year at nats and I have to admit I got them from Wotring.(I am pretty good with clutching also).

Jerky

something to watch for, the front shaft covers for the fox shocks are made for a shock that is much longer than what the minis use. We have found that the covers would hit at the bottom when the front end compresses. We have trimmed ours down some to make up the difference. Something to look out for.

Thanks for reminding me when I take it of the stand. Yes Im aware of them hitting. This will be the third year running this setup.
