I have been debating the issue of purchasing 450r shocks for my 400, but was thinking about starting with just the rear.

I jump a sand dunes a lot and always land rear-tires first so thats usually what almost bottoms-out, and my front shocks seems fine-

But would the set up with just a 450r rear seem alright? Would my 400's stance look different? ie lower in back, lower in front???

Also, I was curious if anyone had personal complications while installing the 450r rear shock, any cutting etc that is a pain I should watch out for?

Thanks-

lets see, it will lower the rear down a bit and there should be any cutting or anything involved. use a 400ex link and such and the 450 shock and it will stiffen the shock up for you. steve

Ya it will lower your rear end a little bit but its a stiffer linkage and wil bolt right up from a 450r to a 400, i have all around 450 shocks and they bolted right up and espically the fronts mostly make a HUGE difference, i wouldnt just get rears, invest in all around gas shocks from a 450r.

i have the rear 450r shock on mine and love it but i think my stock rear was wore slap out. Made a nice difference, especially after I added the works shocks up front and went to test it jumping compared to stock

if you use the 450r rear shock and get the linkage too,use the450r dog bone and the 400ex shock link, u'll find it sits about right. might be the other way round on the dog bone and shock link, my memorys poor these days.but it does work.also watch out for the rezzie on the shock wearing on your air intake boot.john
