For all you hunters out they that think you have some good stories!!!
The following pictures are of a guy who works for the forest service in Alaska. He was out deer hunting. A large...large Griz charged him from about 50 yards away. The guy unloaded a 7mm Mag Semi-auto into the bear and it dropped a few feet from him. The thing was still alive so he reloaded and finished it in the head. It was over one thousand six hundred pounds, 12'6" high at the shoulder. It's a world record. The bear had killed a couple of other people. Of course, the game department did not let him keep it. Think about it. This thing on its hind legs could walk up
to the average single story house and rest his elbows on the roof.

Is there a link to the article?

I believe if you kill a bear in defense of life you get to retain the animal. They may be holding it pending an investigation. That is one large dude there

I wonder how many arrows I could have hit him with before I had to draw the knife?? :huh

Ill be hunting Prince of Wales or Kodiac late this summer for Sitka black tail

I've had those same 2 pics for over a year now, and the story back then was that he was an Airman in the USAF. I just checked out the above link and if you look towards the bottom of that article, it says "what really happened" and it turns out the original story was true. He was in the Air Force, he was deer hunting but he also had a bear permit, and this thing did surprise him. No it hadn't killed anyone previously. The weight was estimated at 1000-1200lbs since it was field dressed and quartered in order to get it out of the back country.

He took the bear legally, and yes it was his to keep. But the internet story is pretty entertaining.

Mr. Traffic, Go to Kodiac Island the deer hunting was good when i
was there few years back. And you well see a lot of bears too.
How are you doing this hunt drop camp or charter boat or on your own. I did know some guys that had a tug a war with a bear
on kodiac while harvesting a deer can you say dinner bell. If you need names of Outtfitters PM me. Jimmy

The guy that builds my bows and I are going, hes got a lot more experience on Prince of Whales so we may end up going there. Havent nailed that down. It will be on our own.

my wife REALLY wants to do the chartered trip on the boat in early winter during the rut. That trip sounds like the perfect vacation :)
