so i'm fixing up this old sled to sell for my quad parts fund, and i have the primary clutch half-apart to free it up (wasn't fully disengaging). i think i know why, but i want to make sure my thinking is correct.

the centrifugal weights that spread out when the clutch spins (making the clutch squeeze together); should they move freely when i have the outer clutch half off? see pics:

here is one weight all the way in:

now it seems like i'd be able to swing it easily on its axis... well it won't move unless i move it with some leverage, as seen in the next two pics:

should these weights move easily, or is it right that i have to use tools to make them move?

They need to move easily. Time to do a rebuild on the rollers.

i put a healthy dose of PB Blaster on them before i came inside last night, so i'm hoping when i get home from work they'll be better.

we've got 8-12" on the way... i need to have this thing running by tuesday. :D

I'm gunna bet that even with some lube on them , they're still pooched. You need to invest in a rebuild kit for it ... new pins, new rollers and new bushings. It's a very common thing with sleds.
