Question is do you oil you air filters pre filter? Or as known as out wear?

When I used one I never did. I haven't heard of other people oiling them either.

the prefilter is to be kept dry, it is a barrier to help keep the filter clean, i dont have an air box so my filter is exposed to the elements its just an added measure to prolong filter life

keep the outerwears dry, no oil.

there is are 2 types of pre-filters, kinda like a nylon windbreaker, but doesn't block air and a thin fabric, almost like a thin breathable shirt. The first type doesn't get oiled, k&n and outerwears are biggest seller of those types. I don't remember the name for the company(s) the make the second type, but that needs to be oiled to be of any good. The second one is called a filter skin and it might be sold by PC racing. I use both types, one on dirtbike and another on quads/atc's. I generally use the pre-filters when riding in sand/mud/water, with no airbox lid, your foam filter is covered with sand in no time, I also use it for dusty mx.
