Let me know if this is a good way to fix plastic

i have 2 white number plates that are dirt stained and scratched ( not 2 bad)

i was gunna hit it with a 600 grit sand paper
finish with 0000 steel wool
several coats of floor polish
then when that drys gunna hit it with some wax

how this sound?

Ive heard Mr. clean magic erasers will take off any dirt or stain on white plastics. just sometihng to try.
