Air filter question...is it okay just to run water through it in the sink? And then let it dry thoroughly? Its off my blaster and its just a stock filter...I know its a 400 board but you guys seem to know alot :)

Wash it with soap and water, let it dry. Use Bell Ray foam filter oil (best on the planet).
This oil will not dilute when it gets wet like other oils will. But the down side is just dish soap wont cut the oil when you clean it. So I use old gas I have set aside in a can just for cleaning the filter, I reuse it till it wont clean the filter any more. Then after I clean it with the gas then i clean it with soap. Some say that gas will degrade the filter and it will but it takes about a year of cleaning it twice a week. You can run a white rag up into my intake and it will come out clean. Other oils I’ve used let some dirt in but the Bell Ray is the best. Treat the filter inside and out for best results.

X2 on Bel-Ray. Been using their products forever.

This is what I use: Bel-Ray Degreaser (http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/Belray_Degreaser_Engine_Cleaner--616788.html) + Bel-Ray Air Filter Oil (http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/Belray_Waterproof_Foam_Filter_Oil_Aerosol--616790.html)

First, take an air compressor to the filter to knock all the loose crap off. Then spray it down with the degreaser and wash it off with water. Let it fully dry (overnight is best) then give it a nice liberal coating with the filter oil. When you're done that thing will look like a brand new filter.

Ok I see you use the spray type I like the liquid pure on type. I like the liquid because I can soak the whole filter all the way through. I put the filter in a big zip lock bag after I put on the oil and work it in real good. Ether way will work, the spray being the easiest.
For me I like all the protection I can get, I have too much money and time tied up in my motor to risk getting any dirt in it. In fact I use the stock filter just so I have the best protection. HP filters flow better but they don’t filter as well. And after all isn’t that what it there in the first place.

But I ride with the filter exposed so it gets real dirty. If I had the lid on and the snorkel on it the spray would do fine.

Yeah, I just use the spray simply because it's easier. I do run an open box but I also have a pre-filter and ride in dry conditions.

I can ride about 2-3 hours and clean the filter and I get about a half a cup of dirt in the bottom of the bucket when I’m done.

Your right gas will degrade but it takes a long time. The longer you keep it in the gas the faster it will degrade. The trick is to wash the gas off right away and not let it sit.
