So after buying this 250R almost 3 years ago and taking it all apart shortly after buying, I decided it was finally time to dedicate some funds to its rebuild. When I bought this bike the frame had been sand blasted and hadnt been painted, so as bare metal tends to do in the northwest, it had started rusting, luckily just surface rust! Unfortunately I dont have any pics of it whole when I first bought it, but let me tell you, it was rough? Very dirty, and needed some TLC.

These pics give you an idea of the condition of everything before hand.

Here is the frame after powder coating. I went with Candy Blue, and it is beautiful, when the sun hits it it bring out the metalic and shines like a diamond!

I have been taking my time cleaning EVERTHING! And painting some of the stuff. I am still going to paint the tie-rod ends and basically anything that I am worried about rusting. I want this bike to last another 23 years.

I started working on the rear end while waiting for the carrier bearings and wingarm bearings to arrive. I also strpped the radiator to bare metal and am preparing to repaint that, obviously not painting the fins!

I am also going to get working on cleaning up the motor as it is a little dirty.

I am going to try and use the original plastics, white on blue. They need alot of cleaning and resurfacing. I know its alot of blue! I am hoping it doesnt look overwhelming, but I got an extremely GREAT hook up on the PC, I had just about everthing I could done, something like 46 parts and the guy did it for $150!!! So I didnt want to start mixing up the colors and making it more difficult for him.

Got the radiator painted and installed. Hooked up the rear end. Had some troubles getting the swinger in the frame... I also got the rear brakes in, waiting for new pads. Next I need to get cleaning on the motor. I am hoping spraying engine bright foam on and using a toothbrish will work good, its not too dirty, I am wondering if simple green would work better? I am thinking about buying a new wiring harness through service honda, on mine the rubber is starting to crack and some of the plastic wiring cover is cut to the wire.

Looks sweet! what color plastic do you have? also for your wiring you could just wrap it with electircal tape. I wanna do my yfz that color next year with white plastics and a candy orange a-arms and swing arm

The plastics are the stock originals, you can see them in some of the pics in the background. They are the white fenders w/ blue nose, tank, and seat. The color is absolutely amazing, its the candy blue, the secret for making it more sparkly is having it sand blasted with a larger media, like walnut shells. It makes the metal more rough, which in turn makes the light reflect off more angles, kind of like a diamond.

I had it blasted by another guy for $100. At the PC place they plugged all the holes for me and then ran the tap through them too. Its a family friend who is high up in a metal plating company in Portland, they do every kind of metal coating imaginable, mainly for large quantity commercial items. I was expecting him to charge ~$350, anywhere else I was expecting like $600.
