cp piston?

im trying to find a 12.5:1 cp piston for a 04-05 450r but can only find 12:1 for the 04-05 and 12.5:1 for 06-09
i wanna go as high as i can while running pump gas... and wheres the best place to order CP pistons

also when i eventually do a port and polish, fcr carb etc will this still work ok on 93?

Have you considered av gas? You be able to run a 13:1 with that. It's a little more than pump gas but half what race gas is... I pay $4.49 a gal for it, 93 is just under $3 around me. Plus the av gas is leaded wich lubes your valves and seals. Smells good too! It's also call 100LL (low lead)

i ran vp c12 in my last race quad and i was getting that for $8 a gallon but i wanna try and stay away from that this time... too much of a hassle goin to the shop 20min away everytime i need fuel

If you call any place that carries CP pistons, they will be able to order you ANY comp CP piston you want.
Just might take a little longer to get if it's not a shelf piston.

And yeah port work and changing the carb won't have any affect on what fuel you need to run. 12.5:1 should be fine on 93.

Though if u ever decide to go with a stroker crank in the future that will affect your compression.

i race A class mx... and if i decide i want to run race fuel whats a good compression that will still be reliable

Everyone has a different opinion on that.
But if your going to run race fuel anyway, I prefer something in the range of 14:1.

IMO 13:1 is a waste, have to run the high dollar fuel and there is hardly any gain. There is plenty of other mods to get equal or better power for much cheaper in the long run. And also herd mixed things about running 100LL or mixing fuels.

Everyone has their own rationalization though.

The cp pistons can be machine to give you the comp you want.
They mill .020-.030 off the top to get the 12:5 to run pump fuel.

Had this done to my daughter 04 450r.

No, from any CP retailer like I said above.

if you dont wanna run race gas, the best option is the Venom/Cp piston, its a 12.25:1 with all the mods, they are having a sale until valentines day for 210 shipped http://www.venomperformance.net/pages/index.cfm

or if you wanna run race gas, use the 14:1, i run the 14:1 using a mix of C12 and premium with no problems, the 14:1 is just as reliable as the 12.25 in the hondas
