I ordered a handlebar mount for my Garmin Etrex and it was delivered today. I opened it up and on the package it says it's a "handlebar mount" but in the instructions it says it's a "bicycle mount". It's part number 010-10267-00. Is this the mount I want or is there a different one for motorcycles and quads? I also got the 12 volt adapter so I guess I'll have to mount and wire a cigarette lighter socket on my quad somewhere. I was just wondering if the handlebar mount is strong enough. Thanks everyone!!

I also have the etrex and was gonna get the same mount..untill someone that has one showed me. Notice how the mount uses a different battery cover? Then that slides onto the handlebar mount. Well from the weight of the gps the battery cover peels away from the unit leaving your batteries to be exposed to water and vibration shutting the gps off. Also if you hit a branch it could possibly snap off. Once you get water under there it'll never be the same again.

There is a mount called the " RAM mount " that cradles the entire gps. I got that, you can mount it anyway you like since there is a 2 position arm that locks into place. A little more money then the other mount but worlds better. Later

You beat me to it Adam LoL

QuadFamily : Your GPS is 3 volts i believe ????? Adam ( WhiteZ929RR ) can explain this better . We had to hook up adapters that jump the volts from 12 to 3 to our GPS units .Adam hooked his up with LED lights so he can tell if its on or something . He can explain it better than i can...........
