450R timing marks?

Hi guys, I've got a question on the timing of a 450R.

The honda manual says to line the marks up on the crank gear with the mark on the clutch cover. When I do that shouldnt the index mark on the stator side line up at TDC? I rolled the engine over and had it on its mark 4-5 times, and the TDC mark never lined up at the same time as the crank gear and clutch cover mark.

Take your valve cover off and line up the mark on you cam gear with the one on the cam tower. Your cam lobes should be facing the rear at a slight upward angle.
