Seen some decent sales on the internet for both brands, any pros/cons you guys can think of, can't decide between the 2 which one I 'd like more.

Just picked up a TLD AIR (DETROIT) for 240.00. Have'nt got to ride with it yet, but I really like how lite it is & the graphics are nice. Seems to be a very comfortable lid.

have seen both take big hits and hold up. both are good helmets. IMO there is better, but also worse. i would lean more toward the Shoei though. i believe they make their own helmets where as TLD has someone make them and they slap their name on them.

ive wore both, they are both great. looks like it comes down to which one has a better price.

you really have to go try both on, i was gonna get a shoei but it didnt fit me at all, i couldnt stand it. i tried a troylee on and it fit perfect, the only way to see what one you like more is to try them on.

everyones head is different so you need to find what fits yours. I have probably 10 helmets hanging in the garage from the last 20 years, both street and dirt. As long as it is a quality helmet and it fits well then thats what you should get.

I currently run a TLD SE in red white and blue.

Yes, I agree. It all comes down to what feels good on your head. Just figuring on getting a higher end helmet for once, since prices are more reasonable. Funny how the economy being the way it is forces companies to slash prices, would've never bought a $500 dollar helmet before, now that they're half price or so, I'm more interested.

I went from a 130 dollar fox to a 300+ troy lee i got on clearance off ebay for 200 bux, the helmet is AWSOME, sooo much more comfortable, never had the other but no complaints with the TLD

Just picked up a Shoei VFX-W. Absolutely love it. Lighter than my Fox V3 and the quality is a million times better. We did a price comparison on Motosport and picked it up for just under $300.

I am afraid to buy a really nice helmet. :eek2:

Ordered new a-arms, Stadium shocks, rear axle and wrecked the next day running myself over... :eek2:

Ordered new Lonestar chromoly frame and landed from a jump at Breezewood and dislocated my shoulder and tore the labrum the very next day.

I was looking at $500 helmets and put the catalog down and thought...I will stick with my HJC carbon fiber. I just wish it was more colorful.

If I do get a nice helmet, I am not riding the day after I order it for sure. :p
