05 R with 08 tank cover?

I have a 05 R, im looking at putting on the 08 red tank cover? has anyone ever done this? and what does it involve? I'm guessing i have to buy a 08 tank and plastic heat protector with it? maybe do some plastic trimming? or is it just a waste of time. thanks

Will the 08 tank bolt on an 04-05?

thats what i was wondering too, i looked at a parts break down and it doesnt look like it will but i could be wrong

Yeah but you need the mounts for the back of the tank and an 08+ heat sheild
