Am I too big for a 400ex

I weight about 290 at about 6'1, I have a bunch of buddies that say I would be fine on one but I am worried about it....as no one around here has on, they are all on 450r's. I will not be racing just trail riding and a little bit of dunes, I would like to get your guys oppinions on this.

are you asking if it will have enough power for you or if you will have enough room on it when you are riding?

ye adude trx400ex is a great overal bike can slug some wieght and if you thin its under powered slap a pipe on or something if you just like trail riding you might just thin aout getting a utility bike

You will be fine! I weigh around 270 and am about 6'0" tall and the 400 has plenty of power to move me around. You will spend more time worrying about keeping the front end on the ground than not having enough power. Especially with a good pipe, filter and precision jetting!

I am worried that the susension would not take my weight, but now that you said something would it be enough power to move this big mass.

I do not want a utility, I think they are very boring to ride

yea i hear you but 400 is a great bike and less work to keep up with then a 450.. 400ex motors are bulletproof.. now 450 take a little more work. you also can find some 450r shocks to slap on for better supession if your worried about that and you can find some pretty good used deals around just look around.

when i got my quad i was 6'2'' 310. it was perfectly fine. now i am 6'3'' 270 and its perfect

oh yeah replace the stock front shocks if you ride dunes. i bottomed them out all the time when i rode dunes.

If you are worried about suspension buy some 450r suspensions but you will have to shave little bit of the top off for them to fit. I weight 270 and my 400 hauled *** when I first rode it I did a wheelie almost fell on my ***. You will be fine :D

idk personally i had a buddy thats maybe 6'1" and 270 or so and he cracked the swingarm on my z400 going over whoops. never rolled it or anything so i know thats what caused it.

my buddy is 5'11" 270 and he rides a 400ex fine. Granted though he is getting a KFX 700.
