3 Elka's

I am thinkin about buying stage 3 elkas, they are 16 inches eye to eye. And for standard travel. Are these good shocks? yes, no, maybe??????

if i had the money i would have them on mine right now. lol. i guess i am just a sucker for elkas. lol. I would say they are among the best out there along with PEP, Axis, fox, and some others. steve

You can pick up a pair of 450r fronts off eBay for cheap then have the triple-rate conversion kit done to them along with a dual-rate for your stock rear. Jet-Motorsports will charge you $860 for the complete conversion and C&D Racing charges $900. That gonna be like $1100 (depending on how much you pay for the shocks) total invested compared to the $1800 or so Elkas will cost you. If you're going to be doing competitive MX racing and have the money, by all means go for some Elkas or Fox Evols (the best, in my opinion). If not, I'd save the money and go the conversion route.

Yeah, that's a great deal. What kind of condition are they in? You might want to consider sending them out to C&D or Jet for servicing to get the most out of them. That is, if they need it.

The shocks got normal wear and theres dirt behind the springs but i will just powerwash the and clean them real good. yea the guy says they will prolly need serviced after a little more ridin. How much would it be to get the shocks serviced? More than im payin for them?

Shouldn't be too much, maybe like $70-$80 a shock. Email C&D at cdracing@atcjet.net and ask for a quote. They give a discount for ATV Riders members so let them know you post here. You could also try asking Jet at nickadams@jet-motorsports.com to see if they're any cheaper. A few more places do it too, like GTThunder.
