I am mechanically inclined but have never done actual work on quads, i recently messed this one up in the snow this december. Im looking to buy a used or new axle for cheap online and had a quick question. My local repair will do it for around 100 bucks. Should i pay the fee or is it really that easy to just pop off and swap without experience in quad repairs. It's my 05 660 raptor.

This is the 250R section, but you can do it yourself.

Just remove the wheels (4 nuts), remove rear brake assembly and remove axle. Repeat in reverse....Or drop it off and pick it up with $100 less :p

heres my suggestion for you and anyone else that is working on a quad: get the factory service manual. they are priceless in my opinion.

another suggestion: post your craptor question in the right forum

yes im pretty sure you can do an axle swap, its not hard at all, the most common mistake i see is the axle nut being put on backwards. Be sure it goes back on correctly.
