250r will idle but wont accelerate/rev up

Alright I have a 87 trx 250r with an pro x 300 cylinder by LRD, I bought it not running, did some testing and it needed a cdi box, I got a new one and it started up fine, went for a test ride and it ran good hit powerband and everything, it did feel a little sluggish but still went into powerband. Went for a second test run and it would not rev out, the best way I can describe it is like hitting the rev limiter on a 4 poke in reverse, just cut in and out, not get up to speed at all. I have replaced the stator since then, put new gas in it, cleaned out the carb, made sure nothing was clogging the exhaust or intake, checked the reeds, it has good compression, anybody have any ideas at all??? I’m stumped on this one

when you cleaned the carb did you pull the slide out and make sure the clip that holds the needle hasnt come off and the needle is not lifting with the slide

you know i dont recall it was a few weeks ago but thats a good point i will check that today

so apparently 60psi is not enough pressure lol i should of checked that i guess, while kicking it over it felt like it had good compression but obviously did not, new piston and bore time :-)

when there that low u almost have to pull them to get it started

it would build up to 90 then leak down to 60.....and there was a good amount of piston slop, ya i know im surprised it would start also but it did, i just should of actually tested the compression instead of judging by how hard it was to kick over

ya they were good it was just a sloppy piston im good to go, thanks for the help guys
