my son's bike was going through about 1 spring per race, so I decide to put a breathing tube on the side of the CVT cover. (thanks to Marvel's Portable Welding in Frankford, DE)
I didn't want to use an APEX cover or the 90cc DRR cover with the vent in it. I was worried water would get in it.
The 50cc cover is alot easier to take off than the others.
This was the best thing I could have done to the bike, cause the same spring has been in the bike since July 09. (knock on wood)!
And, if it is really muddy, I could run a hose on it and run the breather up higher.

I like the idea but I think it would work better if you had an intake on the front if it is possible.

No don't get me wrong I think it is good idea I was thinking out loud. I was thinking it needed a place to get the cool air in.
