i have a 05 with a +1.25 houser long travel swinger/link with an axis shock but was told that a 06 and up swinger and shock with an aftermarket link would work just as good maybe even better than what i have now. is this true? and input would be appreciated. thanks

The length is the only thing that would remain comparable. Your current setup with the axis rear shock is so much more balanced than a stock setup would be with the link. The stock rear shock needs to be revalved to work properly in conjunction with the aftermarket link. Sure, it works and makes the shock more plush but it's nowhere near the performance of the axis.

As far as the person who told you that, they have no clue. Work just as good? No. Especially if you're racing, the compression and rebound of the factory shock is far to fast.

an 06+ swingarm with an aftermarket shock and link would probably be comparable, but you still have half an inch over the stock 06 swingarm with the +1.25 swingarm. (06+ are .75 longer than 04/05)

You will also have a little bit more traction with the longer swinger, AND bc the houser is steel it will allow it to flex to get more traction in the corners, while the stock aluminum swingers are rigid and dont flex as well.
