Im needing a rear rotor for my 250r, and i have plenty of 3 bolt rotors laying around but no stock 4 bolt rotors. The 450r rear brake hub is 3 bolt, will that hub work on the 250r so i can run a 3 bolt rotor?

they are all 3 bolt and a very similar bolt pattern, but different diameters. I believe the 250r is the smallest, 400ex and 450r might be the same exact rear rotor. I do know that 88/89 250r, 400ex and 450r front rotors are the same. Also everything except the caliper body and adapter are the same as 250r front calipers.

The 400ex rear rotor is larger diameter than the 450r.

so does the 450r rear brake hub and rotor fit a trx 250r? is the 88-89 stock rear hub 3 bolt?

The 450r REAR rotor fits a 250r anti-fade. A 85-89 250r REAR rotor will fit a 450r anti-fade also. About 5 years ago I bought a 250r anti-fade from a guy who got it and was told it would fit correct on a 05 450r. Everything lined up right, except the axle circlip was too far out on the 450r axle, it wouldn't tighten up right. A 250r anti-fade will fit a 350x, 250x/300ex, 400ex, and 450r, the difference is the rotor bolt pattern, spacing off the carrier and how far the adjustment nut goes out.

So will the stock 450r rear brake hub fit right on the 250r? I cant tell for sure by your last posts.
Thanks

yes, it will, you will need to use 250r axle locknut. splines and diameter are the same with 350x, 85-89 250r, 250x/300ex, 400ex and 450r, offsets and how far the axle circlip is are the differences. You may have to space the 450r or 250r caliper for it to fit right.

so does this mean a 400ex axle will work on a 250r? using the 250r brake hub and locking nut? but still able to use 450r caliper maybe?

yeah, a 400ex and 450r axle will work in a 250r, I hear there is something you need to do to use a 450r axle, its really close to a exact fit. The 450r(especially 04/05) and 88/89 250r are so close, that its measured by millimeters in most of the chassis. The 400ex is close, but not as close as 450r.
