400ex gearing

whats do u guys think the best gearing for a 400ex will b for midrange and top end speed.. its already geared 14/36t.. thinkin of movin up to my 15t in the front.. so it will b 15/36! but i dont wanna change em if ima lose to much on take off.. i also have stage 3 cam, 86mm bore pistion, mild port polish, whtie bros slip on, amr stage 2 rev box, k&n air filter (air lid off), jet kit.

I have mine geared with 36 in the rear and 14 in the front, but if you want more top speed and more mid range speed, i would sudgest (15/36)!!!!! or you can do 15/38 for more top speed than anything.

ya mine is 14/46 atm and i was just trying to change the front but i cant the midle bolt out from the sprocket any suggestions?

15/36 is more top end than 15/38. for more top end you go up in front and down in back.

middle bolt? im pretty sure there are 2 bolts that hold a flange that holds the sprocket on

i have a 440ex and a 02 400ex thats piped

400 has 20's and the 440 has 18's

both 15/38 ( stock)

the 440 will pull the 400 from a dig/roll
and also slam it top speed

ive always heard good things about 14/36 on 400's

Thats got to be a monster on take off. What gear do you use for trail riding?

14/46 on trailriding but i switched to my 15t today for top end
