I have been looking around at different tires and was looking for some info, thoughts, and/or opinions on different tires that are out there. Also, maybe some tires are better for different bikes, different front tires work better on single a arm bikes than on dual a arm bikes etc.

Rear Tires:

Carlisle Sno Hog- I, just like everybody, has several sets of these Holeshot look alikes. I had heard they were being discontinued? They are not on the Carlisle website, at least that I could find.

Kenda- Kenda Klaw 18x6.5x8.

Maxxis- M958 Razr Cross 18x6.5x8

ITP- Holeshot Quadcross MX 18x8x8

Front Tires:

Maxxis- M931 Razr MX 19x6x10, Razr M943 iMX 19x6x10, M957 Razr Cross 19x6x10, etc....

ITP- Holeshot MXR6 19x6x10

This was just a few I found after a quick search. I'm sure there are a lot more that I'm missing.

Personally I would like to try a set of the Razr Cross's on my sons bikes. I run the Cross fronts and like them.

Any thoughts?

I was thinking of trying the Razor Cross rears this season too. The fronts are just awesome!!

How do the rears work on the different tracks???

Mud?

Clay?

Sand??

I had a set of the Razer cross. Didn't like them, but some do. I thought they wear to fast only got 2 races out of them. We had a set of the itp Quadcross mx they were awesome. Hooked up grear in all types of conditions. The Kenda Klaws weigh a ton.they are way to heavy, but are a great tire but rob to much HP.

All of the Maxxis tires u mentioned are great tires. we run them on the Honda 107 and they are awesome.

I like the ITP Holeshots for the fronts, They are the only tire I will run on his mini's.

We also run the Holeshots on the front and Carlises on the rear.
I was thinking of trying the Razr Cross's out?

holeshot MXR6 20x6x10 on front
Quadcross MX 18x8x8 on back on the stock wheels the sno hogs came on

ITP Rules!!

hooks awesome, lasted for a season, the extra width helps with hook up and the inch taller front helps w/ ruts.

Every inch counts, at least thats what I'm told.......:blah:

we have run both, the snow hogs are a great tire, we ran the razers for rear height ,tires worked ok but they wear really fast ,for the money they cost not worth it. i have heard through some people that use them that the quad cross were real nice ,they will be our next purchase.

We have started using the Maxxis 940 Tire which is 2 ply and very light for it's size..

18x9.5-8 and we put it on a 7" wide rear wheel

Our mod 70 and 2Fast 90 move em around fairly well

Seems to make the quad a lot more stable and predictable too

I've been told the 940's were a little too wide and mess the handling up. Also, because of the grip being a little better that they cause excessive heat at the belt.

We change belts after a few months of riding one one

Iknow some fast kids running them...

I'd be worried about performance loss during the moto. As far as fast kids running them. If the leader has something WE all believe if we had it our kid would be able to keep up. Cattle to slaughter.

http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp358/MiniQuadRiders/DSC03194.jpg The blaster needs some green on it, not use to seeing Jordan without the green, also Jordan ran great Saturday night. He is a lot of fun to watch!!!!!

I must say the Blaster does look really sweet. But it has no green!!!

who sells the 940's and how much are they going for?

bulldogfallon
01-26-2010, 06:07 PM
We sell em and stock em.

In the tire section...I would recomend 7" wide rims for them.

You can email if you need them or need more info.

We run 940's on our 70 & 90 awesome tires.

Gets your rider up front quick with lots of traction
while sno hogs normally spin on a fast quad.

what about the kenda kutter 18-8-8 or itp quadcross 18-8-8 2ply?

bulldogfallon
01-27-2010, 07:56 PM
Quadcross is not a 2ply in that size...they made a "lite" version of a bigger size.

If they do make a lite in the 8 wide it would be very popular I'm sure

The new kutter is. 6 ply I believe

DWT is currently having some tires molded that are being made just for our application. we will be testing some pre production sets real soon. They are making fronts and backs under the goldspeed label that will be super light and sized for the CVT's. They have also designed some sweet .125 lightweight wheels with a super strong rolled lip. These wheels are super light, but have the extra strength we need without the added weight of rings or beadlocks. They have made 3+2 offset as well as 4+1. They have the rok-out feature like their big wheels as well, and come stock in either polished or black. we have been testing them for a month, and they ROCK!! these are the wheels and tires we have all been waiting for.

I would love to see someone make some 18 or 17 in front tires.

Raidernut, i've heard this news through the grape vine. Sound interesting. Goodbye snowhogs! Any time frame?

we have ran a 4-1 rolled lip .125 from dwt all last year and they worked great. The only thing was I had to order them dirrect from dwt so no one hears about them.

Tucker rocky has the standard itp quadcross tire rated as a 2ply for the 18-8-8 and the lite as a 2ply in the 18-10-8.

Sorry on the kutter parts has there listing all messed up.

The new ones are a little different, they have taken even more material out of the middle cut out, and replaced it with a Rok-out webbing.
Rocky they are getting us some testers that came out of the mold in the next two weeks. If all goes well they will start full production. I will post pictures and results as they develop. They should be available for sale by March. They are making some lightweight 19" fronts to match the lightweight rear tires. We really like the 8x6 wheels we are testing. They seem plenty strong enough, and dont weigh a ton. They are also going to put together their "Champion in a box" set up like they do for the big bikes, in our mini sizes. The new owner of DWT is committed to developing tires and wheels that are designed for our racing, and not for sno-blowers.
