DG Xcellerator 300ex

My sons 300ex DG Xcellerator is leaving a black smoke film on the underside of his new Maier plastic where the muffler and headpipe meet. Does this mean it is leaking? Can anyone tell me what I need to do to fix this problem? Has anyone had this problem with the DG Xcellerator? Thanks for any help.

It sounds like it is leaking, you may want to either tighten it up or check to make sure its on all the way also. You could by a gasket type thing and use that as a spacer between the two and then tighten it to form a better seal

Well I found out why it was leaking the black smoke. The clamp broke off of the muffler on the bottom and took part of the mu ffler with it. Now it has a hole in it.:( I guess it could be welded?
