just wondering how much horsepower is lost running ss valves due to the higher spring presure.

dyno tested at 0.1hp per valve

There are so many other variances to account for that the added weight of a stainless valve is not going to be noticed.

The purpose of running higher spring pressures is to help valvetrain stability at higher rpm when using a larger camshaft. More top end horsepower will be gained by using the larger camshaft which will be much greater than the added resistance caused by the increased lobe lift and valve weight. Stainless valves are used because of their better wear characteristics and reliability.

Even in a stock engine, with a mild cam the differences in spring pressure and valve weight will not be noticed. I utilized the stock springs as long as I could until bigger valves and more lift was used.

if you also have an aftermarket cdi with a raised rev limiter you will want to use high rate springs but like ds 268 said if its for normal use you can get away with stock springs

Not enough to not run em unless u like spending money to replace sunken ti intakes.
