Well i've finally made some progress. its been sitting in the basement for over a month in pieces. I've got the motor fixed and put back together. Here's what i've done so far.

I welded in a few gussets because my frame was cracking at the shock mounts

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk34/crg10493/100_1543.jpg

and then discovered it was broke next to the right foot peg.
http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk34/crg10493/100_1541.jpg

and one of the brackets for the valvecover bolt was cracked, so i put a few tack welds there
http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk34/crg10493/100_1545.jpg

my welding isn't the prettiest in the world, but i think it'll hold. the frame will be sandblasted and painted soon, hopefully in the next week.

the 416 screamer :D

my steering stem bearings, swingarm bearings, my upp chain roller and slider are waiting to be installed
http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk34/crg10493/100_1552.jpg

i put my a-arm bushings in and polished the arms up the best i could. My rear shock that i bought from a member on here came in today, so i finally have a GTT Rear end.

are you going to paint it or powdercoat it? cause the powdercoating would be so much better, that is if theres a place around you that does it. I had a banshee frame powdercoated this week and it turned out awesome. doing a frame up rebuild on a cheap banshee I got and im going with a yellow and black color scheme.

i'm painting because its cheaper, i know it won't hold up as great but when i get the money i'm gonna have it pc'd

gonna look great, thats similar to the colors im going to use when i get around to redoing my hybrid. paint will work just fine, just take your time and its all in the prep. and when you have to make a weld or something it will be easier to weld on, and then touch up. and unless you use a good custom pc shop, "production powdercoating" flakes off like crayon. learned this the hard way.

i sandblasted the frame today and painted it. I took my time and prepped it with acetone to make sure there wasn't any oils on the surface. this was my first time using a spray-gun i'm fairly impressed with myself. there's a couple of small runs but it doesn't matter. what do ya'll think? oh and please ignore the junk in the background

well i made a little progress, got my a-arms, spindles, and the rear master cylinder on. A bunch of my parts like my swingarm, engine mounts, oil tank, and steering stem needs to be painted. But with all this rain, i don't know when i'll get to that. but here's some pics

how strong do you think that grab bar will be?.....strong enough to lift the qaud with? and do you think it will hold up if you hit it on the ground during a wheelie...and 1 more question.....did you have to narrow the bar to get to mount to the narrow subframe

sorry so many questions in one post.....im interested in doing this:cool:

gtt416ex
01-24-2010, 08:13 PM
i think it'll be strong enough to do wheelies with and pick the quad up with. as far as narrowing it, i welded 1/8 plate on the inside of the mounts to act as spacers, so i didn't have to modify it too much to fit.
