narrowed it down to 416 but now what

time to rebuild and i decided on a 416 but now what. i mostly trail ride with utilitys or try keeping up with my cousins yfz so i plan on sending to gt thunder for boring and heavy duty head studs heavy duty camchain and stage 2 cam so should i go 11. 1 or 12.5 1 i kno il have to run race gas but can 12.5 1 take all day trailriding without over heating i also wont have money to do any head work for a little while but i plan on doing it within a few months after rebuild im a newbie traded extra truck for bike n i luv it thanks for help

i personally have the 11 to 1 and love it i wouldent go with the 12.5 to 1 there is way to much heat. and the hd studs arent necessary for the 416, i have buddies that have 416's also and no hd studs and there still running strong. if you want save the money from the hd studs and get some porting done. personally i dont think you would find much diffrence between the 11 and 12.5 anaways.

11:1 stage 2 hot cam and the head work will work real good and u will still be pump gas friendly thats what i have done to mine and it scares the hell out me just about everytime i get on it im trying to heal up from a road flip now

yeah you got a good setup in mind. go with 11:1 and you will be happy with it. i dont have the head studs and i run it real hard and havnt pulle the stock ones yet. I did a lot of trail riding this past summer and didnt have any problems. i would suggest the 450 carb aswell i was really impressed with it.

You'll definately want hd studs with the 11:1.If for nothing else its good insurance that you wont have to keep replacing you head gasket.

Thanks yall been helpful I'm definently goin with the hd head studs and heavy duty camchain its gotta be worth the extra 100 bucks rather than blowing head gaskets I'm kinda hard on stuff

i just called four stroke tech to talk to them about there drop in cams he asked what i had now and i told him stage 2 hot cam and he talked out of there cam because its the same grind but he told me im only getting about 10:1 with my 11:1 piston and told me to take the base gasket off and put some hondabound in its place and a xr 400 head gasket and it will give me a true 11:1 so in that case i will be taking it all down with in the week or 2 and we will see what happens and he also said that it will retard the time alittle
