what gasket kit do i need to make a 11-1 440 a 10.8-1

I bout a cylinder with the 440 sleeve and piston , this kit is 11 to 1 but i want to make it 10.8 to 1 so i don't have to run race gas so what gaskets do i buy. Thanks

Which big bore kit did you buy?

If it has a wiseco 11:1 piston in it, it will really come out to 9.6:1 with the supplied .020 base gasket and a .043 head gasket.

If its a JE or Ross piston supplied, then it will be the advertised compression ratio with the supplied gaskets.

If you want 10.8:1 with the wiseco 89mm flat top, run no base gasket and a .025 head gasket.

Do a search in the "powertrain" board under "decking" and it will give you all the answers.

hey bronson. i see soo many people around here sayin the compression on their 11:1 440 is really around 9:8 or so. there are alota threads aboutpeople usin xr gaskets and decking the cylinder so that the compression bumps up to 11:1. so you might not have a problem. cuz if i get a 11:1 440 ima use xr gaskets or cometic 3 piece metal gasket kits and shaving the cylinder so that i get a true 11:1

You really should put a big bore head gasket on your 440, not a stock size XR400 head gasket. I don't think Rico noticed you mentioned it was a 440?

Yea brother, you can't use an xr400 head gasket with an 89mm piston. Get your head gasket from c&d racing.

The below is going together now.

I had the White Brothers track cam in which is close to the Hotcam Stage 2 in lift/duration and that cam ripped.

When I had the WB cam, I had 9.6:1 compression and the Wiseco 89mm 440 piston, which ran fast enough to run with my friends piped DS650.

So yes, The Hotcams Stage II should also rip with the right compression.

I'll do a full report when it goes together.
