I've had my clutch cover of for a while, but I got my new hinson basket so im working on getting my rebuild goin again. My motor has gotten quite a bit of dust and stuff in there so would it be alright to use carb cleaner to spray it out that would be the most convenient for me. I plan on blocking off the holes to the gearbox so i dont blow stuff in there. just want to make sure its not bad for the fibers or anything.

IMHO think you run the risk of the carb cleaner carrying the dirt particles into the bearings. I have no idea of what should be done in this situation but if it were me, I'd probably tear it completely down, replace the bearings in contact with the dust and clean each part individually with that carb cleaner.

one little speck of dirt......

I got it cleaned up pretty good with a rag and a little bit of carb cleaner seemed to work pretty good. I know one piece of sand could mess it up but this was just a little dust and lint from the rags i had covering it but anyways I got the rest of my parts ordered today to finish up the clutch so when i get them I will update my old build thread. Then I will do a ring job and be ready to go
