I run spectro platinum SX2 in my r but I want to switch to something better. The kind I run is the only oil the local shop carries. I"ve ran it for years and had good luck with it. So if you guys out there run something better and believe its the best or a must let me know THANKS. Ryan

Castor 927 is the best, that's a fact.

Like mohler said, you're gonna get 1000 different answers. Thats like asking which is better, Nissan or Toyota. I personally run Amsoil, but thats just my preference.

I was sitting on a GNCC start line back in 1997'sh warming up the ol R and next to be was a beat lt250 smoking like crazy I mean killing anything around. I asked him after he shut the damn thing off "what kind of oil are you running? He looked over at me pulled his face mask down and said "PENZOIL" with a deep southern accent. I always here him say that when I hear this question asked. LOL
If you use AMSOIL you have several choices.
(TDR) Dominator Racing Oil (Injector or 50:1 pre-mix)
(AIT) Interceptor (Injector or mix 50:1 pre-mix) This is the best choice for typical riding
(ATP) Sabre Professional (pre-mix only up to 100:1)
You can find more information at this link AMSOIL for ATV's, UTV's and Dirtbikes (http://www.amsoil.com/powersports-atv-dirtbike-oil.aspx?zo=34396)
If you use a lot of oil, check out AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program which lets you order at dealer prices of 25% off for only $20 a year membership.

When I had my 250R I always ran Motul 710, lubricates well, burns clean. Really though, you'll be fine with any of the bigger name oils, they all burn clean, and have excellent lubrication properties. Stay away from the 1.99 walmart 2 cycle oil, bad news waiting to happen, yeah it may lubricate well, but it doesn't burn clean and that will cause problems from carbon buildup.

Stick with Golden Spectro. All of my buddies run it in their R's and non of them have had an oil related failure. We all run it at 50:1. If you havent had any issues, why switch?

I run Amsoil Dominator. Been running it for 3 or 4 years. It works great, and is clean. I use it my R's and my sons mini's.
Before that we always ran 927. Nothin beats the smell of the bean oil haha
