ok so theres a air force guy in my school today and then he just called me on my cell... how he got my number blows me... but he wanted to know what iwas doing after Hs and i said mechine tooling and welding, he said sweet, any thought about the air force? i said i dont know why? and he said that they could pay for all my schooling and then i could weld and turn all the this stuff for them...

now theres gotta be a catch? i want to race, i've been working on a 250r, im really looking foward to the 2010 season...

after high school i want to open up a shop or else get in some place around here, i know a few pouplar guys and i think i could get my way in there but im not 100% sure.

so im looking for the people that know about the air force? how is it? is it worth signing up? what do i all have to do?

You join an military branch, your life will be the military.

Just joined the army im a unit supply specialist airborne ranger. Like stated above you join the military your life is the military for the next 8 years. No matter how long you decided to do active duty or reserves you still have to commit 8 years to uncle sam. They will pay for some college just make sure you get all that in contract and stuff.. My advice is go ahead and do some college classes and go in as a officer at a higher pay rate.

As far as the air force goes. My friend just joined up and is a Tacp which is tactical air control party, which is a spec ops branch. He got a great signing bonus and had to get in really good shape.

My advice is do some more research and if you have any question feel free to ask and id be happy to try to answer them or find out for ya.

Four years active four years inactive. That means you serve for four years and the next your on call. You leave when they call me.

Be careful with the bonuses, I know people that wait up to ten years to receive any college schooling help and all that jazz. Take what the recruiter tells you with a grain of salt. If you have asthma you won't be able to join. Thats what happened to me.

Like rodeo#11 said, go to college and become an officer.

Well the thing with the military is your gonna get yelled at, nothing like they use to do but your gonna have it coming. I'm the same as you grew up in the mtns of NC and i hate ppl yelling at me. But the thing is with them is you have to do what they say no matter what, but when your out in the field atleast you will know there is hundreds of other guys you can trust to watch your back and not let you get killed. Drill instructors have seen it and been through it all and they are doing what it takes to get you ready.. yea their ***** holes but alot of ppl in this world are. The military can be a good thing if your willing to let it or it can be a bad thing. You just have to decide if its for you. You want to travel and see something different and have exp. to talk about for the rest of your life i would suggest it. If you dont like ppl yelling at you or making you exercise it may be a bad thing then.. Just use your better judgement..And the thing is with them you gotta show respect to get respect.

You don't have a choice. They yell at you not to be pricks but to push you harder than anyone else can. They use your anger to get your *** through boot camp. You go in with that mentality you won't last more than a day. You will have to run, push ups and all that stuff. No matter what you want to do, paper pusher or carrying your rifle into close combat you have to go though the same training.

x2 you sound like you already have your mind made up. it takes a lot of dedication and willingness to serve in any military branch. as for recruiters, they are worse than a lawyer turned politician... what they say don't mean chit its what you have on paper that matters

I WAS an enlisted Air Force recruiter and just like ANY group there are bad ones out there! YOU need to do the research to figure out if it is for you. What they say does matter, but it does ultimately need to be on paper.

Based on your personality and dialogue, I don't think you're ready for the military! It does take a selfless dedication and great amount of discipline to serve in the military, and as stated above, you WILL get yelled at. It is for your good or the good of the mission if it comes down to that but you need the mentality that you are serving a higher purpose/cause!

It is a GREAT way of life but PLEASE do your research from people that have experience and can answer your questions......could even be a recruiter if they are trustworthy....There are plenty of websites, blogs, news stories, etc... for you to figure out if this is for you or not! Initially I would talk to a recruiter to find out IF you are qualified to join before you start getting crazy, it will surprise you what some of the disqualification factors are.

If you have ANY questions about the Air Force, please PM me. If I don't have the answer, I'll find it....

Again, please see a recruiter ONLY to see if you're qualified. If they are being pushy, tell them you'd like to set a follow up appointment about a week out to allow yourself time to do the proper research.

These are some of the websites that I used to give my applicants.

PM w/questions!

all i got from that is that i should only talk to the recruiter, im not ready for it, and its takes alot to do it?

All I'm sayin is that i was brought up around guns, i have a Win M70 30-60 that i shoot all the time, i've shot alot of different rounds just so i can get a feel of what i like and dont like...

Dont take this the wrong way, but if a dude came at me and i had the choice of kill or be killed, he would be shot... I live in the middle of no where and i shoot... they only way i would do this is if there were alot of Pros in my favor... i have a cuz that works on the jets and hes cool ****, hes like i am,

I'm at a point where i can

A) race
B) be awelder or mecheniest
C) join a military branch...
D) drive semi
E) be a farmer

i would really like to race but i know it takes alot of work... i've talked with a few people and i have a few deals that i can take and work something out with, im not going to say who or what it is on or with...
I also know alot about welding and mechien work, i live on a farm and i got a guy down the road that im in his shop all the time doing stuff... i also have mills and lathes at school that i use...
(Skipin the military for last)
My dad has a semi, hes to the point where he doesnt drive it cause his legs are bad, it say last year because of it and i could run in in 10 if i wanted
I also live on a farm, my folks are gonna move out soon, we no longer have cows but theres a guy i worked for that would be willing to make adeal with me on them, i wouldnt even have to move them... they would say at his place and thats like 2 miles away...

and then the military...
I would like to do it cause my gramp did, then none of his sons did and non of my brothers have, just my cuz and he was married in to the fam... the military is an importain thing, its why we arewhere we are at... but at the same time i feel like its a giant game of chicken for the high ranked boys to jack off and **** around... its kind of like a piss fight... after having to watch the news every day for a whole year at class i cant stand to look at it, i watch the weather and sports and thats all... politics is a giant load of bull **** and thats find if you disagree but if you do please tell me how its not... all the senate is jacked each other off while people are off seas getting killed... the spot we are in now i think could been solved a long time ago... with a few really big bombs...

war isnt a good thing so why do we milk it out and play cat and mouse? stop dicking round and get the **** done.

i know i went off track but this is part of the reason why and why not i would/n't want to join....

Sorry that is all you got from it. My point was to see if you're qualified by talking to a recruiter, set a follow up appointment if you are and then do some research on it and some soul searching to see if that is something you would like to do!

I do hope it all turns out well for you and you seem to have alternatives, which is more than a lot of ppl have so good for you!

As with any big decision in life it takes time, thought, research and the right information. I can't help w/the first two, but if you find that you feel you are not getting the right information or can't find it in your research, please don't hesitate to PM me. I'll find the answer for you!

i took the military test and i could do anything pretty much mech. welding tooling working on almost anything...

ryan243
01-21-2010, 02:45 PM
from what i have understood, everyone that takes that test could do almost anything....my buddy took that test and was told he qualified for almost any job he wanted, but he is one of the dumbest people i know, could barely pass any class in high school...i know a lot of people the same way as him who have supposedly been able to do anything as well

the asvab is as easy as changing a tire but a little longer.

rodeo#11
01-21-2010, 03:36 PM
the computer version of the asvab is super easy.. it bases how hard your questions are off the very first one..you miss the first question the next question will be easier. so forth and so on.

extremeblastr
01-21-2010, 03:52 PM
anybody can qualify for a large amount of jobs with their asvab score but there is a score range that most people don't reach and recruiters get excited about if they see. i'm considering getting back in full time but not sure i could with the health issues i've run into over the past year or so. woodsracer its always an option but i don't think the military is for you, your attitude just isn't right.

^^^ agreed you gotta have the mind set that your gonna push yourself to your limits and that you are gonna be treated like crap at first.. but if you got what it takes to get through that it will be worth it in the end.
