View Full Version : 86 250r frame with a 88 swingarm

what would i have to modify to put a 88 250r swingarm on a 86 frame. since the mounting of the 86-87 and 88-89 are different what mods do i have to do? there has to be something to do with motor mounts for the rear.???

well you will have to weld in some rear motor mounts for the enge because you cant use the mounts that mount in the center of your swingarm pivot bolt.

The geometry of an 86-87 250R frame is different than the 88-89. the front suspension on the 88-89 is further forward by 1 inch and the swingarm is 1.5 inches shorter than the stock 86-87. Unless you put aftermarket a arms on the front that are 1 inch forward you may notice a difference in the way your bike handles on jumps. And also, there definetly would be welding involved to put that swingarm on your bike.
