i was thinking on doing the same. what kind of bedliner did you use? i was just going to grab a can or 2 of rubberized undercoating, but wanted to know if you used roll on or spray can... and what brand

bkelley back when i had painted wheels i just used this painters tape....its BLUE and very wide so u just put small sheets of tape over lapping around the bead and its so wide you dont have to worry.....pretty much like the index cards but its tape

So while I was down at Autozone looking for the spray liner, the guy working there talked me out of it. He said he used some on the skids on his jeep and it worked good, until it started chipping. He used the roll on type, though. I haven't heard of the spray type chipping. Anyways, he recommended using Rustoleum Hammered Spray. He said he's had it on his skid for a while now and it's held up great. No fading, chipping or anything. Figured what the hell, might as well try it. I'm going to be getting some black ITP Baja wheels soon anyways. Plus it was cheaper than the liner. I'll let you guys know how it goes. The dude also said he just started doing his own powder coating and he could coat whatever I wanted for cheap. Gonna have to strip my frame down and get it to him ASAP haha.

Oh, and here is a link to the stuff I am talking about:

It covered well, was super easy to paint with, gave it a nice texture and seems very tough. It's hard to tell the texture from the pictures, but it looks really cool. All that's left now is seeing how it holds up.

dont buy baja's theyre garbage for the money your paying. i have them in the front and they dent really easy theyre wont bend but will get many dents all around them. save some more money and go for a nice set of itp beadlocks. its mroe moeny but will be much better in the long run.

that hammered paint is the way to go, ive done a couple frames with it and it is super tough, and it has a texture very similar to "hammertone" powdercoat. your wheels turned out great! so did the original poster with the bedliner. :macho

Yeah I was really impressed with the paint. It covered most of the scratches/dings I had in the wheels. They look brand new now. I really hope they hold up.

your quad would look sick with a black bumper, an nerfbars.

01-25-2010, 04:10 PM
idk what that guy is talking about. but my .190 thickness ITP rear baja's are holding up just fine, and i jump alot, trail ride and a little bit of just about everything. there really heavy duty and well built. you cant go wrong with the baja's. i love mine. not a single complaint here. ive had them for like a year or so now and they still look almost new.

you have to hit something really hard to even think about denting .190 rims. my douglas ones have been good for a long time. steve

01-25-2010, 04:17 PM
yea thats what im saying the baja's are tough.
