i am gogin to build a sand rail for my senior project and i was wondering if ii just used a vw frame and a hopped up vw motor if it would b 2 big or just cut it and weld it so its smaller or shuld i just weld my own frame>>>>???ne one make one?

it really depends on what you plan to do with it once it's built.

I'm upgrading mine to irs right now, and I think it would've been easier to just build a new frame all together.

If you use the vw floor pan it'll be easier to get registered, but a tubular frame will be lighter.

vw power is common because it's light and relatively easy to fix in the middle of nowhere, but reliable horsepower is somewhat limited.

A single seat motorcycle powered rail may be the way to go. ( I personally like taking people with me, if only to scare the crap out of them...)

This is a very ambitious project, and won't be cheap, but I wish I would have thought of it when I was in school...
