What are you guys doing for choke levers for the 450r carbs? I took mine off, but I need it in the cold. I might be trading it in and I'd like it to work right. Have to use needle nose pliers when it gets cold.

some guys trim them off a bit to use them, i broke mine when i was rejetting it. It fell on the floor right on the lever. I just take my seat off to use it right now since it is cold. I am sure i wont need it in the summer though so it doesnt matter. i like the wire to pull it up. it is hard to hold it up and mess with the gas and such to get it started without the locking part on the lever from the stock setup. you could also trim the lever and add another part to it to get it down below the tank a bit more. steve

I just turn my gas on and wait about 10 seconds and then pump the throttle 2-3 times before I start it, and it starts right up, worm or cold. I don’t give it any gas while I start it. If it’s real cold I do the same thing but when it starts I don’t give it any gas or it will stall. Once it runs for half a minute then I can gently start giving it some gas. For some reason I have never needed the choke, with ether carb.

Being in Vegas and having it be 50° in the middle of January might have something to do with it, though.

anyone check the plunger size on this? just a thought, and i might be talking outta my arse, but maybe the hotstart plunger and cable will fit, then you have a handy bar mounted choke. dont have one, so i dont know if its plausible or not, just an idea

Mine seems pretty cold blooded. My pilot jet is rather rich too. But just pumping the gas when its below 50* out just isnt enough.
