View Full Version : Hot Rod +4mm crank

Has anyone put in a hot rod +4mm crank in there 400ex? I would like to know also if it makes a big difference? my buddy did a hot rod +3mm crank on his 450r and it hauls *** now.

that is one route guys go with strokers. it is supposed to be a pretty nice setup with the extra stroke. Lot of extra torque with the extra stroke provided but you may have to use a hot rod piston with the crank. some others dont require a crank i dont think and can use different pistons to compensate for the extra stroke. I havent done much reading on them recently to remember which one is which. lol, steve

yes i can say it makes a big difference. but with the hotrods crank its a piston and crank combination.so i cant say that just the crank made a difference because i also went from a 85.5mm piston to a 89mm piston its a good combo.and not to steer away from the topic if you were thinking about doing this setup i would suggest a full exhaust and bigger carb.to really fill the difference in power.

alright thanks guys. I was going to do the +4 crank with a 416 or a 426 with a 450r carb.

Check out Powrolls setup, they use a +4mm crank with a 416 piston. It's more expensive than the Hotrods setup, but it's a very solid, reliable setup and Powrolls great to deal with.
