would a XR650 or XR 600 fit in the 400ex chassis without too much trouble. just wondering i think it would be cool to have the 400 as a spare or something. i would swap them back and forth. also how much power u think it would put out? z-400 and banshee eater?

I was thinking about swapping in an XL650R motor myself. May be a bit less in the HP department(not sure), but its got an electric starter. :devil That would be perfect imho.

i beleive the tranny gears in the xl motor are too tall to use off road, something to check into.

I am also thinking on doing this project. I just need to find an engine. It's not as easy as it sounds. First of all the only the xr650r (watercooled) will work the xr650L (aircooled) the head is to wide. You have to move the top motor mount that goes across the frame. You also have to shorten a couple of tubes that sit under the engine. You also have to shave off a little on the rear mount of the engine. You also need a bigger oil tank, a carburator the edlebrock will work, plus other things that come up. I spoke to the person who built a couple of XR quad for the BITD series and this is what he told me. He is actually selling these quads.

Who is the guy who is building/selling the 600/650ex?
Do you have a url or phone number?

I have an XR600 hopped up and a 400ex and want to swap the motors. the 400 would be enough for the bike.

why would a 650 engine outrun a raptor?? i know displacement doesnt have a lot to do with it. is it because dirt bike engines are not detuned? or does it weigh less. im just wonderin what makes them so much faster than 660's

its becasue the raptor 660 is detuned.....or could we say doesnt put out the power it should for a 660
