I saw a diesel tundra while driving around north of Daytona beach. I was next to it at a light, and it was pretty beat up looking so that grabbed my attention, then when the light turned I could clearly hear it was a diesel. I was like WHAT!? I assume it was a test model?

My truck actually has a bit of a diesel sound to it ... especially right on start up. The i-force engines clack like a mofo.

I'd still rather have a Dodge/Chevy/Ford for a truck :blah:

Although I do like the Titan and the Tundra is growing on me. It also says in the article that Ford is putting a 4.4l Diesel in the F150. I thought they scrapped that idea?

International does make the ford diesels. Well should I say used to now that ford is using their own diesels in the 2011 SDs.

did i read that wrong, or did the article say

That will coincide with an F150 diesel launch scheduled for the same year. Read more: http://forums.motortrend.com/70/6543162/the-general-forum/toyota-tundra-diesel-confirmed/index.html#ixzz0cthlHgAk

But it's supposed to be the Hino diesel, which isn't so great.

well one of my best friends is a diesel mechanic for five star international, and he says that the idea of a diesel tundra has been talked about for a little while now, but he doesn't seem to think it'll happen any time soon, not sure why he thinks that. He said that the whole diesel scene is changing quite a bit though, Ford is now making its own diesel engine for its 250 called a Scorpion, i'm pretty sure its a 6.7 liter, and it is supposed to be really awesome. It has gotten great reviews and what not. GM still has duramax, whatever your personal opinions are on that. And dodge still has cummins for this year, but last year there were all kinds of rumors and speculations going around that dodge was losing cummins and going with fiat diesels, so who knows what the deal is with that. Now i dont know if any of this is 100% true or not, its just what i hear from him...

I remember when that first came out and I believe it was the start of summer and by then it was a no-go. As the auto market went down, so did diesel's for toyota and the smaller ones for chevy, ford, and Dodge (half-tons).

The shots of that diesel tundra were released almost two years ago IIRC. It was supposed to have the 8.1 hino, but top speed was 85mph.

It's obviously not happeneing, and neither are any of the half ton diesels anymore, that includes the 4.4 V8 diesel F150, the 4.5 V8 diesel chevy, or the 5.0 I6 cummins in the dodge half tons.
