Is this what it's coming to?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-trx250r-trx-250r-fourtrax-HOOD-NOSE-1988-NEW-NOS_W0QQitemZ200427618597QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors _ATV_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2eaa6ac125

Stuff like this makes me sick considering I sold a complete 88 set for $1250 including hood back in March.

Hey folks, I've noticed a bunch of this lately too. Also, has anyone had problems with shill bidding from a few of the sellers?

It seems as some of the parts will sell (and I allways get outbid) yet the same part seems to appear for sale within minutes of the auction close.

I thought the 89's were in higher demand. Good for him! Might list mine again. :) Does anyone else question the brand new description? It looks like there are some minor surface scratches or is it my mobile device?

Anyone see the MSNBC segment on eBay? Interesting for sure.

Yea, I was shilled once many years ago. It was pretty obvious after the auction ended. I was being outbid on a big purchase the last few minutes by the same three people with zero feedback. It seems like to me the selling fee's would kill the deal, but if you just reported your zero feedback accounts as not paying then you'd get your fee's back.

Yep,

Heck, I bid on a steering stem one night and told myself that I wouldn't go over 55 bucks. Now this was a cherry looking stem for sure with the 4 bolt clamps and such.

At any rate, I placed my bid and with about 30 seconds to go I was outbid and then outbid again. I did the one click bid all the way to 72 bucks and was outbid at the end by .50 cents.

I then went to the next listing and same dude outbid me on a bearing carrier.

10 minutes later I searched for new listings and the same parts (or what looked to be the same) were relisted.

What the heck?

siderbox
01-16-2010, 10:13 PM
Guess it's time to start listing the questionable names when they relisted the same item.
Everyone can ask them a question of some kind.

um, sorry to say this but wtf is going on? it is just a piece of plastic, you can buy a after market frame off of ebay for that price. This person just made bank, and he was probably only hoping to get maybe $200-$300 range.

no kidding at that price I'd sell my cherry 89 seat and hood too. Hell I could pay for my whole rebuild with 2 items...

I'm throwing the bs flag on that one, I'm with Dan doesn't look new to me.

Someone mentioned creating a list for the "bad" ebayers... man I think that is a great idea, help each other out here...

There is no worse feeling in the world than being scammed on something.

I agree. I hate being jerked around on ebay. There's a guy on there - Live To Ride or something like that, I think he's out of Conneticut? He's always jerking around with the bids on his stuff, shill bidding, etc . He has cool stuff, but I won't bid on any of it because I don't like playing his games.

250rPRIDE
01-17-2010, 01:14 PM
well theres also a problem with that guy.. i have seen a few scamers with a couple different user names they will relist or bid things up with there other user names from other computer at work or a friends house ect.. there is really no way to stop them.. best thing to do is bid what your willing to pay and see if you win.you'd be better off listing bad items over user name..
like watch out for the hood thats up to over 900!!!!

It explained how eBay was a 10 year old business and there are flaws in the company policies. It was the number one growing business in the early 90's, then the CEO was offered a position with Walt Disney making it seem things were going down hill for eBay. At the same time, Craiglist, Steep and Cheap, etc hit the market and eBay is now not doing so hot. Especially with all this rigged stuff, buyer protection, etc. Like any business, it loses customers who has flaws in their customer service policies. What is most shocking I found is eBay owns PayPal, so when a transaction is made on eBay and PayPal is used for the transfer of money - they double dip on the seller's fees which I think is BS. If you would have saw the eBay facility and the PayPal facility shown on the segment, the company is making a ton of money. For the common user, it's hard not using this company due to the volume of listings and potential buyers, worldwide. It's brilliant in an essence, but there are flaws and they are trying to work out the bugs. As I stated, this e-company is 10 years old and come a long way in that short of time. It's unstable if you look at historical trend of their stock share.

That's what I got out of it the first time, but I would definitely watch it again if I saw it. Anyone else see it and have any comments?

If you click to see who bid it's the same guy bidding against himself like 14 times just to jack up the price then it switches to someone else who does the same thing.

I bought a Lonestar 250r axle from him a few weeks ago. It was supposed to be strait. Of course it was bent. I sent it back and got my refund several days after he received it back. He was a dink on the phone. I wont buy from him again.

the question is what is going on with you? some kind of peeping tom are we? heres my point: (this is in your profile) you joined on 12-29-09 and have only one post which is in this thread. if you have/had such a mint oem hood why did not you post it here for every one to see and or purchase? i think you joined did some research and are/were going to scam someone.

on a side note: got any oem fenders? i have a money tree that is ready for picking.

hey just my opinion

dude, your hood is not worth $1500, not even $600. as for the false bidders shame on you :D . People, if you are ever tempted to buy a oem nos hood for $1500, I would like to let you know that you can buy aftermarket replacements...:D for 1/25th of the price paid here.

Here's my thoughts.

Rolland is possibly a fraud, just some troll come on here pretending to be the owner of the auction. Or...

The Rolland / actual seller of the hood probably used one or more fraud accounts to bid the hood up.

The actual seller is possibly running a scam on paypay/ebay by having the selling account "get ripped off" by one of his other accounts. Buyer protection steps in and he gets that $1500

Well done Rolland. Takes balls to try and steal $1500 from ebay

Ok, I just read through this whole thread and I wanted to add my .02...

It really does seem like there is some fraudulent bidding going on here and yes, $1500 for a OEM hood is freakin' insane, BUT at the same time it seems like everyone in this thread is getting real worked up about it. I say it's as simple as this: if you feel the price is too high, don't bid. If the jerk who is scamming you by bidding against you keeps out bidding you and no one is willing to pay an insane price, then there won't be a problem because he will be forced to re-list the item and once that happens twice its obviously BS.

Another point, word did get around not too long ago that Honda plastics were discontinued and that has significantly driven prices up to unreasonable levels. Remember, there are enthusiasts out there with deep pockets and money to blow. When something becomes rare, some people with loads of money become willing to pay idiotic prices for items. Example, I recently met a few 250R enthusiats at Glamis, CA and one had just finished restoring a 1988. He told me that he had just payed $1200 for the front and rear fenders I was staring at USED on ebay shortly before that trip. When I asked him, "isn't that a bit steep?" His response was, "Hey, they don't make em' anymore."
