Thanks, always like the color and stock graphics, but they started to peal after a couple of years. I was looking for another SE model before I found my regular 07, but found a good deal on this grey and couldnt pass it up.

which front end do you like better??

SPECTECH

I like them both the ars/custom axis was alot better at cornering but the GT Thunder is better in the whoops. For the money the GT thunder is better, It was half the price.

Im running the ARS/FX lt front end with Ohlins PDS shocks....came off of one of Ballances 08 bikes...the upper arms have heim joints... Love the setup...went from GTT to this, and love it...especially in rough rutted or rooted sections... I have run this setup with and without flexx bars...the Flexx bars seem to help a bit more...

I have a friend that runs that same setup, his was from traci cecco. I havent had a chance to ride his setup yet. I can tear up the ruffest terain but cant corner very well on flat ground. Im still working on getting the front how I like it.

I think im around 46.5 up front and about the same in the back. I would recommend staying under 47" I run the 4:1 offset front rims with my tech 3's

which setup is better as far as bushing/balljoint wear and price to replace them? are parts for the gt thunder a-arms generally cheaper?

nicker71

The ars/fx parts are expensive. But I have had good luck with the my bushings, I bought mine used and got 2 years out of them without changing them. I replaced a few ball joint and I think they were like $40 each. Another think two is that the axis shock upper bearings ware out really fast. It seems like every year Im having to change them out. But stock shocks never seem to ware out, whats with that?? If I was to do it over again I'd go with the Gt thunder front end.
I would really like to try a fox float and houser mgc silicast arm combo. I think have the ability to adjust the upper arm would be nice.
I been racing xc for about 5 years and I havent never had a chance to ride another xc built yfz. Just about everyone in the Missouri series rides Hondas.

What are the blue things around the outside of the rims & where do I get some. They look sweet & must be fore protection or something. Is that right?

ECOR#8
02-19-2010, 02:37 PM
theyre beadlocks. they hold the bead of the tire on the rim in the case of a flat. the ones on that quad are hipers, but many other companies sell beadlocks

Beadlocks. I looked around & it appears to be a whole new rim, is that right? Since I don't race, I probably don't need them if that's the case. Thanks

yes it is a whole new rim. they keep the tires on the rim when the side wall of the tire flexs alot or in ruff terrain.

theyre the new GBC race rex's. i dont have a whole lot of time on them but so far i love them. I ran the at my friends house after i mounted them they would bite in everything from hard pack to mud and even snow. I had them on at steele creek and they did awsome pulled me up the hills like you wouldnt believe and would climb out of the ruts with no problem
