have a 2004 400ex and i just started installing a tusk clutch plates and heavy duty springs, i had everything off and put the clutch plates in and i was starting to screw in the bolt with the spring with a torque wrench( set at 80 foot pounds of torque) when the bolt broke off! i have a clutch basket off another 400 i can use but, how can i get the clutch basket off?? And what should i torque the bolts with the springs to? (HD springs)
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRATIATED! I AM DEEPLY IN NEED!! PLEASE HELP!

A little confused on what your saying if it snapped off flush. Could you take all the bolts out and remove it then use vise grips to remove the stud. Please clarify what you are asking.

Maybe a dremel could grind it out

yea, ive read this a few times i think i get what your sayin but could you post a pic or explain a little better.


the only thing that should of been torqued to 80 pounds should of been the center clutch nut. the small bolts that hold the clutch springs inplace should only be snug. the spring tension will hold them in

Yeah the spring bolts should only be snug and I think he is saying the bolt broke of inside the basker requirering a easy out to get it out

yea the spring bolts are suposed to be about 8 ft-lbs
