just got an 05 450r and have some questions i need answer if someone is willing :-)

is the motor and tranny oil seperate?
what is the oil capacity?
is there any way to make this start better in gear? its way easier to start in neutral.

im sure there are some other questions but i cant think of them. please post any tips or tricks you have also, thanks- bradley

Yes the oils are seperate.
Alittle less then 1 Qt per side.
Maybe adjusting the clutch cable free play.

Your clutch basket is probably worn to the point where it's not going to start in gear very good. Drain plug for motor is on the bottom. Use the sight glass when filling and double check after you crank it as the oil level will go down when the oil cooler is filled back up.

Tranny drain plug is directly beneath the kickstart lever, and isn't fun to change with a skid plate, as it makes a mess. Then you fill it using the weep hole.

Best advice I can give you on the 450s is change the oil OFTEN, and always keep a clean airfilter. PS, doesn't hurt to study that manual either. :D
