Im just wanting some opinions on what you guys run. Im wanting to just get some 33s on my 09 Superduty and was looking at the Toyo M/Ts but there 330 bucks a tire for 18" rims! Im looking for a mud terrain type of tire if that helps.

Thanks

Nitto makes a nice looking mud terrain tire.

I have heard a lot of great things about the Toyo tires though .... a lot of reviews from owners say they get very good mileage out of them.

Nitto's Trail Grappler is another nice tire ... nice cross between a street and mud tire.

Yeah I was also checking out the trail grapplers aswell but heard they have alot of noise on the pavement. Not that that really matters though I can just turn the radio up a little louder.

If noise is an issue ... I wouldn't be looking into Mud Terrain tires. Any M/T is gunna howl when doing 60 down the highway.

You can usually cancel out the road noise by adding a louder exhaust.:D

True true, I really like the trail grapplers but I can't seem to find any around here and shipping for tires is a ton! I was also checking out the Cooper STTs

There's a guy on a truck forum that I visit that has the SST on his truck ..... he loves them and they look great.

When I get tires , I'll be in the same situation as you .. either the SST , Toyo M/T or the Trail Grapplers.

The guys on the truck forum usually get their stuff through Discount Tires ... from what I've read they have the Trail Graps and it's free shipping on tires.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was also checking out the other tires mentioned. I'm kinda worried the ssts are load range c and the forums I read recommend a E for 3/4 ton trucks..?

I would def go load range E in your situation. BF Goodrich has a new Mud Terrain...the KM2 i believe. pretty aggressive looking.

STT's are a great tire. They'll probably be my next set once mine are gone. I'm currently running mastercraft Mt's. No complaints here. Couldn't beat the great deal I got on them either. Tread pattern is identical to BFG and procomp with minor side lug differences.

I just put the Nitto Trail Grappler's on my dodge. Got 35 12.50 17. had them on for about 8,000 miles on them. They do wine a little going down the road but not to awfull. But you also dont hear to much over the purr of the 5.9 common rail. I would recomend them to anyone, good grip in any condition, and they dont pick up rocks real bad like your normal m/t which has really won me over!

i run the Cooper Zeon LTZs. ive run the bfgs in the past and both are great tires imo. mine are for 20's and dont have to much of a road noise to make it annoying. not to bad in the snow either

How big of a tire? A friend of mine bought 20's for his ram and it was a good idea until he priced out a set of 37.5'' Xtreme Mt's. Almost $400 a tire.

I run the Nitto Terra Grapplers on my powerstroke. 295/70x17. They equal out to basically a 33 12.5x17. I love them. Dont growl at all and aggressive enough for me (the truck looks real good from the front). I only have about 1500 mile on them but i think the way the tread is layed out on them that they will wear good. We will see

On my SD I'm running Toyo M-55's
I had Generals a/t's and got 50000
out of them but I needed to upgrade
to an E rated tire (generals were c)
both are great tires in my book

My dad just put a set of the new BFG KM2's on his F-150. He had the original KM's on it last time and pulled almost 40k out of them which is really good for a M/T on a heavy truck. So far the KM2's are great. Not too loud on the road, and they hook up quite a bit better then the original KM's. IMO, can't go wrong with a BFG. I'm kinda biased towards them though cause thats all I run, so like I said, JMO.

Thanks for the info guys. Im still torn. The Toyos are alot, and I read some people with heavier trucks that are running nittos the treads ripping off. But doesnt Toyo make nitto?

General Grabbers are pretty good but like stated above they are only a C rated tire, BFGs are great tires as are Mickey Thompsons, i had some M/Ts on my truck and they lasted about 45000 but i hardly rotated them so they wouldve lasted longer if i would of taken care of them. Any tire you choose is gonna be pretty good just dont cheap out because you get what you pay for. Good Luck

Thanks,
Mike

I have the Mastercraft MTs on my truck right now. They're pretty noisy, but I knew they would be.

I have had a couple of friends get the SSTs. Rode good, just didn't last long enough.

I had a set of Mastercraft C/Ts, and I really liked them on a half ton.

Just remember people who are telling you that such and such a tire is awesome, may only be using them on half tons. Tires are an entirely different ballgame when they're under the weight of a 3/4 or a 1 ton with a diesel. Weight will do some crazy things to the tires!

Toyo M/T's are one of the most popular tires on the powerstroke websites. They cost more, but they last longer too. I am a huge fan of pro-comps line up too, and they seem to hold up well to burnouts. The terra grapplers are a very nice tire too, but they seem to wear somewhat quick IMO.

I see I see. Big wheels and big tires equal big bucks. I can't complain though, I got a smokin deal on my 35's from my friend at the local tire shop.
