Somebody sticks a 690 in an Outlaw we are talking about the fuel tanks? This thing would rock. I found the weight of the 690 motor is 38kg. Does anybody know what the 510 motor weighs? I read that this motor makes 70 HP at the crank....... stock.

Who wouldn't love to have a 690, I know what we have with the 525's is awesome but, D***, that would be fun.

I wish polaris would put that engine in the outlaw !!!! I shipped my 525 to get some engine work done , If I remember it's weight was 77lbs (35kg) w/o carb . I'd take the 7lbs penalty for a 144 cc's bump in displacement !

Holy crap! I didn't realize the two engines were that close in weight! That solves it then. My ultimate quad will be a 2011 Outlaw 700 IRS with a chromoly frame, power steering and then about $5,000 dollars worth of aftermarket parts. Now I just have to find some where to git rid of 525 IRS

You have to think.....

The outlaw chassis with that motor would put a stop to the big-bore sport quad BS.

700XX? That heavy, mellow and ugly thing?
Raptor- Already even with our "little" 525 outlaws.....

How much more would you pay to have a lc4 engine (690) in a outlaw ? I would easily pay $2k more , I've already spent over $6k on the rfs engine in getting it to the 650cc range and haven't seen my engine for 16 months !

I would say somebody is not doing good business because i have seen this a lot all over the web. 16 months for work is way to long and I would want my engine and money back.

Hey katch 26, would you be willing to tell me who is doing your big bore kit? On what all are they are doing to your motor and to not be to nosie but what is it going to cost. I am wanting a big bore my 08 525IRS, I am looking at the 570 or even going stroker to make it a 600. So for the my pick is thumper racing....Thanks for your input.

thumper also has a 102mm option , good for 588cc's stock stroke .

Can the stock bottom end of the 525 RSF motors take the larger bore's? I had a local shop say that the bottom end wont take it. Thumper Racing said differently but he never mentioned the 588. I haven't seen or had any work done by them yet ,but with just talking to them on the phone the one time and from some of the things I seen other people post, I feel that they know what they are talking about and do good work.
What is your opinon on the 570 or 588 kits compared to the 600 kit? Is it that much better or is the 570 or 588 kits better money spent? What did you guys do with cam and porting? I was thinking stage 3 cam and some porting.
I have never rode with anyone that has big bored their quad so I don't realy know what to expect.

wannaride ,

the 102 is 38cc's bigger than the 570 (550cc's) travis said the 102 piston is 20grams lighter than to 99mm piston . the weekness in the bottom end is the crank bearings , to do the 102 piston requires case boring so you will have to split the cases . While you have the cases appart throw a set of ball bearings in it . I've never gone up in displacement an been disapointed !! call tavis and ask about the 102 bb cylinder or ask strokin it for 637cc .

Still wish polaris would grow a set and put the 690 in the outlaw chassis , then we could give the raptor guys somthing to ***** about !

I agree, I think the best thing is to call them again and just send in the whole engine to them.
I ride with a cpl raptors and we are pretty close, I think they out tourqe me alittle. But when we drag race I normaly win by a length or so (mainly depends on hole shot), in short hill climbs I think the 525 does alittle better. Where I feel they are alittle stronger is on a long hill such as chokecherry at St. Anthony ID. So what I am looking for, from one of these big bore's is to totaly spank my two buddy's.

Go for the 102x78 637cc's sould leave most raptor in the dust . I've been running a 600 stroker for the last couple years and theres only been a 804 raptor and a ltz keep up with it .

Thanks, I like the sounds of that for a couple reasons, 1st it sounds fast enough to easly take care of my buddy's and 2nd it must be pretty reliable if you got a cpl years on it so far. I am guessing Travis did the work.
I got several more questions on your set up, did you gear up a little? What cam and porting did you go with? Did you have your carb bored as well and did you go with the full exhaust system?
So would I be totaly out of line if I asked how much was that? I also want to thank you guys so much for all the info. I think it will help me from making some of the mistakes to get what I want out of this the first time in turn saving a ton of money.

Stroked lightend crank @ $1600
BB cyl @ $ 750
motohedz port +1 valves @ $1000
sedrum 43.5 mm carb $280
8/07 cam $ 250
muzzy exhaust ??

Runs on pump gas turn 49lbs of tq 37lbs @ 3200rpm makes 62 hp @7k rpm and it revs better than a yfz . I don't know if homedaddy is on this forum but he rode it . It's as torqy as a raptor and revs like a 450 . It realy needs a bigger cam @ 15-20 degrees more duration .

I wonder if it really is up to Polaris whether the Outlaw would get the 690. KTM probably has more to say about that than anyone. Hint Hint

:p

If ktm would put the 690 in a sports quad , I'd buy one . Prob. be $15000 though .
