I have done some searching on here but no good answers found. I have 2 04 450r one motor stock few add ons nothing major just need a freshen up, the other is j-h racing mx bike 13.5:1 je I run 100% 113 vp in it. Now je 2 ring ,3 ring and some say cp has longer skirts than others.
Just want some input

I run a CP piston in the 450 and weisco in the EX. A few others I ride with run weisco. With that compression, you should be able to save some dough and mix that vp113 with pump. Most guys around here with 14:1 run 110. If you want a top shelf piston, a Venom CP is your best bet. Sorry for I do not know the skirt differences.

It depends if you're trying to build an all out race motor or a more reliable motor. If you want reliability, get a 3 ring piston. Yes, it will be slightly heavier, but the oil control ring will be way more reliable. If you want a race motor get the 2 ring, but you'll be rebuilding the top end again sooner. About the skirt being longer on the cp pistons, its to reduce piston slap. Most 450r pistons have basically no skirt, but the wrist pin is slightly offset to reduce piston slap. Longer skirt = more reliable but heavier.

with that said it is a full race bike but not by me, but how much difference might there be on a 3 ring and longer skirt because i love the way the motor rips now with the 2 ring je if there is not a lot of difference long life gooood

well there is pros and cons to the whole 2 ring/3 ring delema. do some search some say you loose a lil compression after a while w the 2 ring. run a venom 3 ring 14-1 in my bike it was 280. you can get them through kbr he just took the cp and did a little more with the exhaust gas ports and some dome changes is what i was told. i know a little spendy but you wont find a nicer product imo. i am by no means a mixxer fan but the piston is great

An engine builder I talked to once suggested Namura, it comes with performance coatings. He said it was in a flat track quad for 2 years with out issue. I don't know, just what I heard.
