I'll be starting to tear down my R for complete rebuild soon and I was farting around on paint for a few days and here is what I got so far... I was thinking of adding as well a yellow frame, red lower engine casing, yellow lower a-arms, chrome uppers... and the front fenders would be shaved and as well yellow air scoops... all fullbore plastics... this is a rough mock up of corse but just to get a better visualization of what it would look like... what do you think? the motor is going to be a duncan 340 Eliminator kit...

you know what man,do what ever you want!doesn't matter who likes it,as long as you love it.you can pull off 2 different color plastics if done right.if thats what you like bro,go for it!

I think it could be o.k. with 2 colors but I would re-think which way you have it. I think the yellow front with Red rear would be better and the frame should be Red or black. The graphic will have to blend the 2 colors together.

Some examples to look to are:

91/92 250X

01 300ex

this color scheme is not my final descision... i just wanted to see better visually how it would look like that... i'm working on another picture and i'm going to reverse the plastic colors to see how it will look... i'm going to try a picture in all yellow plastics too. here is what I got so far on the new pic.

My opinion:

Just leave it, ride it, and clean it. It's pretty damn hard to beat the way it looks right now.

If you want my honest opinion it looks horrible, put the golden arches on the hood and it will look like it came straight from the McDonalds Happy Meal box. That's only my opinion though, it's your quad, and your opinion is what really matters.

Maybe get a set of golden arches for a bumper?? And get some of those handle bar streamers like we used to put on our bicycles......

Really, I'm not trying to be a jerk, but those colors really don't look that good together. Just my opinion and 2cents.....

not sure if I like those colors too much but it would definantly stand out in a pack. I had a hot pink and blue Blaster back about 20 years ago.
Sent you a pm yesterday.

this is why i mentioned that this is just a rough mock up... honda yellow plastic is not canary yellow like the yellow i used in the pic. and as I said its not my final descision... i'm just looking for opinions to see what the majority likes for looks... I don't want to run those nice original plastics when I race... they have no cracks or abuse on them and I want to keep it that way... originals are hard as heck to find in that condition... i'm going to hang them on the wall as collectors pieces... the way I figure, why trash those great looking stock plastics by butchering and shaving them or busting them up in an accident racing... wrecks do happen. they don't need to be planned... also I live in N.Y. where there is mud and not sand... things get a good bit messy... I like the idea of going with a white frame, arms, swinger, lower cases but its not gonna stay clean easy if I do that... this is why I want a nice color scheme to set it off and be a nice looking quad... I can appreciate the stock look alot but there are people who have R's out there that look stock and they look nice cruising in the sand or in a garage... If i bust fullbore plastics in a roll over on the track I open my wallet and suck it up for some more without any regrets or sadness for ruining a great thing... if i owned a 450R i wouldnt want to race it with the stock looks either... bet your but it would have shaved plastics, some nice graphics, and possibly a different color... but My goal in it's appearance is to make people go WAAAAA! look at that sweet "R"! not sat Hey, there's an old "R"... I'm going aftermarket! not stock... not trying to bash peoples opinions that stock R's look nice because I think they do too but not enough to race it like that and abuse something soo nice! thanks for all the opinions... what colors does everyone like best? i'd still like some more feed back on what people like to see on R's out there... If all else fails I'll try the Golden arches... i'm sure someone would appreciate the looks of it. LM(__*__)O

a lil off topic but, do you even sleep? lmao

At least preserve the stock paint. It's really good automotive quality paint. 95% of hte suface can usually be waxed back into a glossy new finish. A lot of people overlook that fact and strip all that really nice paint off. If you're considering a red frame, leave the paint on there. Take 2 minutes and do a sample area with generic cleaner wax and you'll see what I mean. You'll get to preserve the decals on it which makes the frame worth more money too.

LM(__*__)O!!! yeah i sleep, in the morning to early afternoon... I work midnights in a Casino and play time for a few hours when i get home and in the early afternoon before i go to work again in the evening... and I get plenty of time to play on sundays and mondays... i took some personal holidays this week to harass you guys with my threading spree... lol... I just got My "R" like I mentioned in another thread. I bought it in the beginning of fall and I've been doing lots of research and asking questions on here becauase I want to have as clear a picture as I can before I start this teardown and rebuild on my "R" I want to know all I can about it because once i'm knee deep in it I don't want to be surprised by things i didn't know about them... I've never gotten into the 2 stroke quads that much before and I don't want to have a trial and error on this build... I want to make sure its done right and I don't scorch my wallet by my own neglegence not doing the proper research first... I'm sure you all get where I'm comming from... I'm not trying to be a pest... In fact I try to help you guys with what I know about them as you guys do the same for me... thanks for your interest in my threads. i'm trying a few different colors with a pic... just to see what blue and white would look like... here is what i got so far... i started covering the yellow i was doing in this pic with blue. its not done yet...

yellow can look good, you could do a combo yellow/red plastic but need to tie the colors together with graphics

This is an example I've always liked that uses the red and yellow color schemes, however, I prefer the whites, red, and black colors...

Eh. Red and yellow makes me think of McDonalds.

Why not ALL yellow? As in plastic, frame, arms, hubs, spindles, swingarm, stem, etc.

It will be very high impact, and easy to spot from the air by rescue units should you ever wreck in the woods.

Hey DUNCAN250R, I like the red/yellow combo fenders with the yellow frame....ofcourse it will need graphics to blend the colors...It doesnt remind me of mcdonalds....Actually everyone is making a big fricken deal about 2 different color fenders but if i remember correctly...Yamaha did a special edition or the 50th anniversary edition YFZ with yellow front fenders and black rear fenders and they sold alot of that edition (so abunch of people obviously liked it or didnt care )....Anyways, I want you build your trx like you want it....I personally dont care to ask people for opinions on 3 or 4 wheeler upgrades because it seems to accomplish nothing but mixed ideas and to many opinions. I just build to "my vision" and update them on "my build" and then would like to hear the opinions of good or bad.....either way man its a "250R"......EVEN If it had a "Telletubbies" or a "Cabbage Patch kids" graphic kit you cant really go wrong.......
