i'm looking to bore my 250x out some but i'm not going to resleeve it or anything. maybe just 80 over, but still looking around. now for the question. i see alot of info going around here about squish and deck height on here for a 400ex, does anyone know anything about that for a 250x? also what would be my best bet for a piston as in brand and where to get it? thanks

Last time I looked, it was pretty hard to find pistons other than wiseco without re-sleeving the cylinder. Wiseco only made a 12.5:1 compression piston for the 250x, which would require race gas.

I got my piston from White Brothers, made by Arias. It's only 11:1, which I can use pump gas.

how big of a difference did you notice over stock? also if the same is true with all wiseco pistons as it is with the 400ex piston (inacurate compression numbers) couldn't that 12.5:1 be lower than it says? if it is then maybe i could sneak by w/ just 94 octane. any info? anyone else?

you dont notice that much of a top end gain...its more than less getting there quicker.... and as for wiseco being wrong with there compression ratios.... i wouldnt take the chance trying to sneak by with 94 octane on a 12:5:1 piston even if there ratios are off... Maybe wiseco is wrong...but what if there not, i wouldnt try it, you kno wut they say...better safe than sorry!

i have contacted weisco about that compression question with the race gas and they told me that have not seen any prob with 93-94 octane gas. But i was thinking of doing a 50-50 mix if i put one in to be safe.

In all reality, I had alot of things planned for my little 250x, and right after I bought the piston, I bought my 250r. I haven't been back to the 250x since, so I don't know about performance gains.

thanks for your help. i might look into something a little bigger w/ a resleeve to give me more options.

I wouldnt go past .060 over unless you have a good 4 stroke company like CT or powrol build it. You could end up costing your self alot of money in the long run if you dont. I run a 12.5:1 on 94 octain with no problem. Any more questions just ask away, if I cant answer it then I know someone will be able to. Later...

no they arent my only mods. i have a white bros pro-meg e-series slip on, k&n filter, jet kit, random cam, bore and a 13:1 compession piston. i have beat piped 400s with it switching riders to make sure i wasnt just a better rider it still beat the 400 its pretty friggin fast!
