i jsut had my 440 blow on me and im rebuilding the top end got a new jug coming thats bored to a 416 and want a hotcam stage 2 for it if anyone has.(pm me how much you want for it) but what gears would be best for this. i will be doing alot of trail riding but dont want to lose any top speed really. also dont want first gear to redline in like a seccond. give me some suggestions, also take any sugestions on new parts for my quad. thanks

considering the parameters you have listed, Trail riding, maintaining current top speed, and not wanting it to rev out too quickly, Stock gearing would be your best bet.

i would try 1 up tooth from stock in front. (i don't know if its same with all years) mine came with 14 and i put 15. it is perfect although i do more open riding not really trail riding that much but you have a 416 and that will make up big time for power loss because of higher gearing.

i believe stock on a 2000 was 15 38 thats what it was when i bought mine

exactly what i was going to say. 15/38 sounds good for him. i like it alot with my setup. steve
