I am just about finished rebuilding my 88 trx250r and have descovered that 250 two stroke quads are pretty much the s*&^!!! Now I kinda want another and I am trying to figure out if I want another honda, a Suzuki lt, or a tecate. Right now I am leaning towards a Suzuki. What years are prefered and what should I look for?

you definetly want the 87 up on the lt250r. More parts available, longer shocks, more power potential. Tecates are really hard to get parts for anymore since they were only made 2 years. You can find a quadracer at a much better price than a honda if you be patient. I got mine for 400 and just needed a topend rebuild...

Thanks for the info. What are the major differences, if any, are there between the 87-90 models and the 91-92 models? I have just noticed that there are some parts that are listed as different between three different year sets. I have a general idea of the differences from 85-86 compared to 87 on, but don't have a clue about the 91-92 differences. Thanks.

the 91/92 had a different rear shock setup than the others. they were actually setup like other quads with a rear link and supposedly the best of the quadracers. 87 has an oddball cylinder that has a massive reed cage and intake area (which i actually prefer) other than that the 87-90 are the same. 85 and 86 have totally different motor with no powervalve and bigger bore/shorter stroke. and they have shorter shocks on the front because the top shock mounts are below the frame. 87 up are above the frame.
