I have a 400ex, not sure which year it is. But everytime I get it put together it always blows head gaskets. We torque it down. I was just wondering what it could be, I get told i need to buy heavy duty head studs, but I just wanna make sure thats what I need to get. Thanks.

its most likely the problem. usually with high compression pistons but could very well be happening to yours as well.

makes sense, it has a high comp. piston in it. So i pretty much need to get heavy duty studs and go from there.

GT thunder is the place to get them

With high compression pistons you will need to have the up graded head studs.Hopefully you havent pulled the threads on your casing.Which means your studs have nothing more to hang on to.If this is the case,You,ll have to heli coil the thread holes. And I would accually drill the thread holes deeper in to the casing for more support for the stud.

Send your cylinder to GT Thunder. Have them check the head gasket surface for straightness and have them install HD studs. That will solve your gasket problems permanently.
